Welcome to the exotic and colorful island of Puerto Rico, whose millions of tourists a year enjoy the gregarious and friendly people of the island, with their unique culture and re-known sense of family, love of life and notoriously vibrant night life.

The island of Puerto Rico is filled with historic sites but particularly in Old San Juan, a colonial historic appendage of San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico. Visitors delight in its cobblestone streets, unique shops in the historic buildings and enjoy taking a visit in history in Old Government buildings and Museum.

Founded in 1493 by Christopher Columbus, Puerto Rico was under Spanish rule until the late 1800's when Spain ceded America the island after the Spanish American War. The island is now part of the US as a United States Territory , allowing for free movement of people and merchandise to and from the main land. A population of almost 4 million people, Puerto Rico's official languages are Spanish and English, but Spanish is most dominant, with English spoken in the major tourist areas.

You will delight in exploring this rectangular like shaped island that measures some 100 miles by 35 nautical miles, for Puerto Rico offers its visitors astonishing variety from its white sandy beaches to its mountainous terrain of 4390 feet. Waterfalls, caves, rivers, a world re-known rain forest and undeveloped coasts above the sea to some of the best diving in the world below. The island appeals to nature lovers and beach lovers alike.
