Only 575 miles off the coast of the US, the Turks and Caicos form a chain of islands with a configuration similar to an inverted L. Starting on the most westerly island of West Caicos and proceeding north east until North Caicos, the island chain then turns south east and continues on until the end of the chain of the neighboring Turk Islands. Each of the Turks and Caicos Islands offer its own unique flavor, making them one of the most sought out tropical destinations. In order through the chain starting at the most Westerly Island:
WEST CAICOS- once un-inhabited, the island is a natural habitat for birds, iguanas, turtles and other wildlife and hosts some of the most beautiful dive sites. The island will soon be home to-Molasses Reef, a Ritz Carlton development. The development will encompass the majority of the shore line of West Caicos and offer a unique residential community. PROVINCIALES- or more commonly known as “Provo”, the “Mecca” of the Turks and Caicos is the hub, the most developed island of the chain and due to its size and layout offers a range of diverse types of real estate. Attractions abound from sugary sand beaches lined with luxurious condominiums and resorts to the local craft stores in the island town of Blue Hills and the magnificent colours of Chalk Sound in the national water park. WATER, PINE, DELLIS, AND PARROT CAYS- the adjacent small neighboring islands of the chain, link the Provincials to North Caicos. They are mostly private islands with luxury, high end resorts offering exclusive residential opportunities: Water Cay- is an undeveloped island being considered for a large scale development agreement. There are a few privately owned lots. Pine Cay- is a private island, home to the exclusive Meridian Club. Mem- bership approval into the community’s home owner’s association required. Dellis Cay- is the latest private island offering the ultimate in luxury living with a limited collection of private villas and residences. Parrot Cay- is a 1,000 acre private island, home to the renowned Como Shambala Resort. It features a mile long stretch of sugary sand beaches. Parrot Cay also offers ownership opportunities on a limited basis. NORTH CAICOS-minutes away from its sister island Provo, is more laid back and exudes a totally different atmosphere. Called “Emerald Isle” due to its lush tropical landscape, nature lovers can enjoy the three National Parks or white sandy beaches that surround this island. The islands Yacht Club & Marina development and St. Charles Resort, offers a selection of coastal property, planned neighbourhoods, lots and parcels for development. An airport and deep water harbour are currently underway. North Caicos also has a causeway linking it to the next island Middle Caicos. MIDDLE CAICOS- the largest of the Turks and Caicos Islands yet least populated is well known for its intriguing cave systems, old plantation ruins, historical paths and having one of the largest protected wetlands in the Caribbean. The most available property on Middle Caicos is vacant land, herein is the perfect opportunity to purchase property before prices begin to climb. East Caicos- is an uninhabited large island of 18 square miles. It is filled with swamps and mangroves. Although there is a splendid 17 mile beach on the north coast, it is best to appreciate it from offshore due to a large mosquito population. You can find the highest point of the islands here on East Caicos. SOUTH CAICOS- also referred to as the Big South has a history as a hideaway for Caribbean pirates due to its large natural harbor. Now it is known for its tranquility, secluded sandy beaches, diverse coral reefs, crystal-clear turquoise waters and for being the capital for fishing in the TCI. As a result Turks and Caicos offer’s some of the best seafood cuisine. South Caicos is positioning itself to offer a variety of real estate opportunities. AMBERGRIS CAY- southwest of South Caicos is home to The Turks & Caicos Sporting Club; a development that offers waterfront property and private equity sporting club memberships. Turks Island Passage- separates the Turks from the Caicos and is a favourite haunt for anglers and scuba divers. Found between South Caicos and Ambergris Cay to Salt Cay and Grand Turk this 20-mile wide passage plunges to great depths and has some of the best deep sea fishing and diving around.
SALT CAY- true to its name Salt Cay has a rich past in the salt industry that is still evident. As one of the smaller islands in the Turks archipelago it is also home to windmills, Bermudian style homes, fascinating dive sites, impressive whale watching and a unique laid back island feel. It offers incredible stretches of beach where beach front parcels are available. GRAND TURK- hosting the capital of the Turks and Caicos, Cockburn Town is known for its popular Front Street lined with old colonial style buildings and a bustling night life with live bands. With the arrival of a cruise port and an anchor development, Wyndham Cacique Royale, Grand Turk is going to be a destination of choice within Turks and Caicos. Over the past few years interest in Grand Turk’s real estate market has continued to rise.
